Après Studio

Trans-seasonal slow fashion essentials made with eco-friendly materials

Made to Order
Deadstock Fabrics
Après Studio is an Australian label creating relaxed, feminine clothing with a distinct “cool-girl” aesthetic. The brand is known for soft silhouettes, neutral tones and signature details like plaid fabrics and ruching that make pieces easy to recognise. Garments are released in small drops and often made using deadstock, recycled or lower-impact fabrics where possible. The brand also offers custom sizing on most pieces, allowing items to be made to order depending on fabric availability. Reviews often highlight the quality fabrics and comfortable fit, with pieces designed to be worn across seasons rather than for a single trend cycle.

Meet the Founder(s)

Meg Wilcher is the founder and creative director behind Après Studio. Originally from country NSW, she has spent most of her life in Sydney and always knew she wanted to work in fashion. From pushing her way into her dream internship to working full time while building her own label, Meg spent years finding her place in the industry. In 2018 she launched Après Studio with the goal of creating clothing that felt expressive and personal, while proving that style and ethics do not have to be mutually exclusive. The first collection was small and self-funded, with help from her parents to bring the launch to life. What began as a passion project has since grown into a recognised independent label with a loyal following.

Brand Values

People

Après Studio manufactures its garments in China, working with a small independent factory. The founder has shared on social media that she works closely with the manufacturer and spends time there during production. The factory owner is described as a mother who started her own business around the same time as Après Studio. The founder notes that the owner previously spent many years working in factories where profit was prioritised over people, which influenced how she now runs her own workplace.

According to the brand, the factory operates roughly 9am–5pm working hours, with overtime paid at double rates. The brand also regularly shares behind-the-scenes content of the production process on Instagram and Substack, giving some visibility into the people involved in making the garments.

However, there are no third-party labour certifications or public living wage commitments listed. Good On You notes that while the brand shares some information about its manufacturing relationships, overall transparency about wages and broader supply chain conditions remains limited.

Environment

Après Studio places a strong focus on material choices and reducing textile waste. The brand regularly uses deadstock fabrics, meaning surplus textiles from existing mills or fashion houses that would otherwise go unused. Some garments also incorporate recycled fibres and lower-impact materials depending on the fabric available.

The brand releases collections in small, limited drops rather than large seasonal runs. This slower production model helps reduce overproduction and encourages customers to invest in pieces designed to last. Fabric composition is clearly listed on product pages. The brand often shares detailed information about materials and sustainability choices on its Instagram and Substack, where it regularly posts educational content about fabrics and responsible production.

Good On You rates Après Studio “Good”, highlighting its use of eco-friendly materials and efforts to reduce waste through smaller production runs. However, there is no clear evidence that the brand is currently taking specific steps to reduce energy use or greenhouse gas emissions across its operations.

Animals

Après Studio does use some animal-derived materials, including fabrics such as wool and silk in certain garments. The brand does not currently publish detailed information about animal welfare standards.
