LocalBorn started when the three of us, Aye, Taci, and Lisa, met at a workshop at university. We came from very different backgrounds and had completely different personal styles. However, we quickly realized we were all facing the same struggle. Shopping in line with our values felt much harder than it should be.
We wanted to support local creatives, find clothes that lasted, and shop from ethical businesses. Instead, we spent hours researching and feeling unsure. We often ended up buying from places that just did not sit right with us afterward.
We decided to create the place we wanted for ourselves. We wanted a space to easily discover independent, sustainable Australian brands and a community for people who feel the same way we do.
LocalBorn is about transparency, honesty, and making it easier to do better when you choose to buy something new.
We know that fashion can never be truly sustainable, but we do not believe it has to be all or nothing. We are here for when you want to buy something new, but we believe that should go hand in hand with shopping intentionally. We encourage rewearing what you own, repairing your favorites, and buying second hand whenever possible.
Our goal is to make sure that when you do decide to add to your wardrobe, it is a choice that fits your style and your values.
