Amble Outdoors is an Australian outdoor apparel brand focused on sustainable rainwear and hiking essentials. Designed in Melbourne by women for women, the brand is best known for its waterproof jackets and trail pants made from fabrics created using recycled post-consumer plastic bottles. Over one million bottles have been recycled into its garments. Pieces are designed to be breathable, windproof and waterproof. Reviews often note the comfortable fit, including jackets that sit well over the hips and allow room for layering. Meet the Founder(s)

Amble Outdoors was founded by Rihanna Knight. The idea for the brand came to her while hiking in Peru, where she struggled to find outdoor clothing that felt both functional and flattering. She set out to create rainwear and hiking apparel that performs in real conditions while offering a considered fit. From the beginning, she prioritised fabrics made with recycled materials.

Brand Values

People

Amble states it has mapped its supply chain and continues working towards deeper visibility across all production stages. Final garment production takes place in China, while fabrics are developed in Taiwan and cotton is sourced from India. The brand operates under a Supplier Code of Conduct requiring suppliers to pay at least the legal minimum wage and comply with local labour laws. Final stage factories are reviewed under third party audit frameworks such as BSCI and SMETA, which assess working conditions, health and safety, hours and worker rights.

Amble confirms that manufacturers pay at or above minimum wage. However, it has not yet completed a full ]review across its supply chain due to resource constraints and so cannot currently guarantee that living wages are paid at all stages of production.

Environment

Amble’s core material is recycled polyester made from post consumer plastic bottles. Over 1 million bottles have been recycled into fabrics since launch. It also uses GOTs certified organic cotton in selected products and develops many of its fabrics from scratch to prioritise lower impact fibres. For waterproofing, Amble states it avoids long chain PFAS, often referred to as “forever chemicals,” in its durable water repellent finishes.

The brand offsets the carbon footprint of its jackets through a partnership with Greenstory, reporting over 39,751 kg of carbon offset to date, primarily through renewable energy projects.

Amble also recycled 18 kg of faulty or unwearable fabric through Upparel to divert waste from landfill. A formal garment take back program has not yet been implemented, though the brand states this is a future goal. Another future goals is to reduce air freight by 25%, and instead rely more on sea freight.

Animals

Amble is a vegan brand. It does not use animal derived materials in its clothing.
