Feminine, whimsical designs made to order

Gem The Label produces its garments locally in Australia. The brand operates on a small scale with a hands-on, founder-led approach.
Materials are sourced locally where possible, helping to keep the supply chain shorter and more transparent. The brand also uses certified and traceable inputs, including OEKO-TEX Made in Green fabrics. These certifications cover both environmental and working condition standards.
Gem The Label operates on a made-to-order and small batch model, helping to reduce overproduction and minimise waste. The brand follows a no-waste approach, keeping fabric offcuts and repurposing them into dedicated zero-waste collections.
Material choices are a strong focus. The brand uses mainly natural fibres, deadstock fabrics, and/or recycled materials. All fabrics are certified by OEKO-TEX Standard 100 and Made in Green. This means they are tested for harmful substances and produced in environmentally responsible and ethical facilities. Fabrics are sourced from Australia where possible, supporting local supply and reducing transport where feasible.
Attention extends to smaller components. Elastics are biodegradable and made from organic cotton and natural rubber. Threads are made from TENCEL lyocell (wood pulp) produced in a closed loop system. This pulp is FSC-certified, meaning it comes from responsibly managed forests. The brand also uses natural dyes, including logwood (tree bark) and cochineal (small insects).
The brand does not appear to use animal-derived materials in its garments. However, it does use cochineal dye, which is derived from insects.
